The Comenius visit in Greece - the city walls

The Walls of Thessaloniki (Greek: Τείχη της Θεσσαλονίκης) are the city walls surrounding the city of Thessaloniki durin
g the Middle Ages and until the late 19th century, when large parts of the walls, including the entire seaward section, were demolished as part of the Ottoman authorities' restructuring of Thessaloniki's urban fabric.

The Comenius visit in Greece - Thessaloniki by night

Thessaloniki (520 km. north of Athens) is the second largest
city of Greece and the most important centre of the area. Built near the sea (at the back of the Thermaïkos Gulf), it is a modern metropolis bearing the marks of its stormy history
and its cosmopolitan character, which give it a special beauty and charm.
